Current Career: Technical Sourcing at Nelson Miller Inc. August 2017 to Now

Background about Nelson Miller Inc. : Privately-Held Company; ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR and NADCAP certified; internationally recognized leading manufacturer of user interface solutions and identification products. Custom nameplates, membrane switches, rubber keypads, graphic overlays, display and injection molding.

I work in Supply Chain Deparment at Nelson-Miller Inc. Headquarter which is located in the heart of Southern California - Los Angeles. Here are some of my responsbilities that I have been doing at Nelson-Miller Inc.:
(1) Purchasing strategy - Based on daily booking, I plan and send the purchase orders (PO) to corresponding suppliers. Cutting the PO without delay is the most important action to prevent the risk of delay. Therefore, I put this task as my daily first priority. Within months, I have successfully achieved 90+% on time delivery with average half million per month value of good ship to customer each month.

(2) Negotiate better trade terms, pricing, lead time and quality of services - In Supply Chain, it is a key to negotiate a better trade terms, pricing, lead time and quality of services from suppliers. Understanding price is the number 1 item upper management would like to save, but it is not always the best options. Raw materials, logistic cost and labor cost are dramatically going up quarterly. Without sacrifice the quality of products, a shorter lead time, better engineering and procurement support from suppliers are better than saving 5% cost.

(3) React to New US tariff against China - Reserach and learn the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS code). Implement the HS code and better product description on the shipping document can be avoid any shipment delay or hold by US custom. It could also help to save up cost by identify the correct HS code for US custom. Otherwise, they can assign any high % duty & tax rate which one company should not pay for.

(4) Play Key-role at multiple projects: Chinese New Year Supply Chain reaction plan; Transfer US to Off-shore projects; Transfer US to US projects etc.

(5) from time to time, I provide shipping & landing cost for new project budget evaluation.

(6) Lastly, I successfully switching from Engineering to Supply Chain field. Gaining additional knowledge in supply chain, product manufacturing, pricing and logistic are crucial to delivery better products to end customer.
